Blue Cloud Scratch is seeking submissions from dance artists to present short works at our scratch night on Tuesday 5 December. Pieces can be up to 15 minutes long and we prioritise new work and works-in-progress rather than completed pieces.

Artists participating in The Place’s Resolution! season are very welcome to test out the work they’re creating.

Please note: we can only accept applications from UK residents

Where: Blue Elephant Theatre, London

When: Tuesday 5 December

Deadline for applications: Sunday 5 November

To apply please complete this form:

Due to the number of applications we receive, we strongly prefer to see footage of the proposed work.

You will need to cover any costs involved such as travel, costumes and props. Each piece will receive a share of box office income but it is unlikely to be a substantial amount.

Our scratch nights provide artists with a friendly space in which to show their work, with facilitated Q&As, technical and marketing support and documentation.

Blue Cloud Scratch originated from Cloud Dance Festival’s open space event in January 2016 on gender and equality, and seeks to address the need for scratch nights and feedback sessions, while Blue Elephant Theatre seeks to explore ways to support independent artists.

“Camberwell’s friendly performing arts space, The Blue Elephant has teamed up with established dance platform, Cloud Dance Festival, to showcase brand new choreography and make dance more accessible at the same time…Blue Cloud Scratch has shown itself to be a very welcome addition to the Off-West End performing arts scene. A rewarding experience for those on, off- and backstage which hopefully will become a regular event.”
