Audition Notice Kelly-Abbott Dance TheatreKelly-Abbott Dance Theatre is seeking strong, athletic male and female dancers for their upcoming North East tour of their new production Launch Day.

Where: Newcastle –upon-Tyne, England

When: Wednesday 16th December

Deadline for application: 5pm on Monday 7th December

The work is in collaboration with and inspired by the paintings of Alexander Millar and the shipbuilding history of the North East. Launch Day depicts British shipbuilders at work, but also during their social time, at the football and at the pub. Set to music by Mark Knopfler and Irish composer Breifne Holohan, the choreography will bring Millar’s characters or ‘gadgies’ to life, creating an iconic, theatrical celebration of the industrial heritage of the North East

Rehearsals and Tour will be in the North East of England. We are looking for mature and versatile dancers who are based in or who have accommodation in or within reasonable distance of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

You must be available for the following dates:

Rehearsals: (x 3weeks)

15th February – 4th March 2016

Tour Dates:

05/03/2016 – Dance City Newcastle

09/03/2016 – Alnwick Playhouse

08/04/2016 – Maltings Theatre and Arts Centre Berwick

13/04/2016 – Queens Hall Arts Centre Hexham

28/04/2016 – Washington Arts Centre

Our requirements:

3 years vocational training and subsequent performance experience

A high standard of contemporary dance technique and excellent partnering skills

Experience in Jazz technique, physical theatre and acrobatic skills (preferable but not essential)

Football skills/tricks (preferable but not essential)

Highly creative with excellent improvisational skills

Excellent fitness, stamina and strength

Willingness to experiment and explore ideas with the choreographer

Willingness to push themselves to their limits

Sense of performance, theatricality and strong stage presence

A good team player and strong work ethic

Please familiarise yourselves with the paintings of Alexander Millar and previous work by KADT online

Must be able to work legally in the UK with relevant work permits and visas

All rehearsals and tour performances are paid at Equity minimum rates with travel expense.
