The main goal of the weekend workshop is to introduce participants to the choreographic style and ways of working of Iker Arrue while familiarizing themselves with some of the repertoire Iker has created as director of Ai Do Project. Through specific choreographic phrases, the workshop will focus on limb awareness in relation to the body centre and the use of horizontal, vertical and oblique spatial planes to reinforce the way we relate our body to the surrounding space. For this, special emphasis will be placed on weight shifts, spirals, off-axis work and how to avoid any impact in these compromised out-of-balance situations. Another key idea that will be highlighted during the workshop, is to master the concept of utilizing minimum muscular effort to create multiple movement qualities so that they themselves can research and apply these same principals to the styles and forms of work that interest them most.
