After discussing the performative nature of the notion of contemporary dance, the seminar will focus on concepts such as theatricality, self-referentiality, re/presentation, criticality… Also, Laermans will introduce the overall perspective that guides him in analyzing contemporary dance and practices of artistic collaboration, i.e. the difference between potentiality and actuality or singularity on the one hand and the idea of ‘commoning’ and ‘the collaboratory’ on the other.
